Passchendaele Museum

In the lead-up to the centenary of The Great War, the Passchendaele 1917 Museum located in Zonnebeke, Belgium expanded its infrastructure by constructing a large new addition that would create significantly more display space for its artifacts and exhibits.  One of the permanent new display areas was dedicated to the role that Canada played during the war in the Ypres salient – not only but most especially at the battle of Passchendaele in 1917. Because of the close working relationship between the museum and the 15th Battalion CEF Memorial Project, the museum approached the Project for assistance in populating the Canadian display area with period artifacts.  The Memorial Project, in coordination with the 48th Highlanders Regimental Museum provided a sufficient number of original artifacts on permanent loan to the Passchendaele Museum enabling it to have its Canadian exhibit populated and ready for opening in 2013.
