The Fallen

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

- Laurence Binyon

During the Great War 1914-1918, 1,467 officers and men died while serving  in the 15th Battalion and they are buried in 205 cemeteries in Europe and Canada. Those Fallen whose remains were never recovered , or if recovered were never identified, and thus have no known resting place are memorialized on either The Menin Gate or the Vimy Memorial. The remains of those Fallen that were recovered but not identified are buried in CWGC cemeteries under headstones marked as “Unknown.”

The names of all the 15th Battalion’s casualties will be found in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission list below. Photographs of individual headstones for many of the 15th Battalion’s dead can be found in the headstone gallery which will continue to grow over time as project team members and supporters visit cemeteries and photograph headstones. Similarly, the gallery of the 15th Battalion Fallen contains photographs of individuals which the Project Team has located to-date.
