Maintaining Project Memorial QR-code Pages

The Project Memorial QR-code pages are permanent public landing pages reached from QR codes printed on physical memorial panels. Their URLs are therefore part of the physical memorial infrastructure and must be treated as permanent.

Do not change QR-page URLs

Do not delete a QR-code page, change its slug, move it to a different URL, or replace it with a new page unless a permanent redirect is deliberately created and the physical QR code is tested afterwards. A broken or changed URL can make an installed memorial panel unusable.

The current set is maintained on the List of QR code pages. Use that page as the working list rather than copying the URLs into other documentation.

Editing the pages

The QR pages are ordinary WordPress pages under the Project Memorials section. Their content can be updated when required, but preserve the existing page URL. Some pages use different historical layouts or translation methods. Do not standardize them simply for consistency unless the replacement has been tested carefully.

In particular, the Hill 60 page deliberately uses the older slug hill-60-pdf-page. Its unusual name is not a reason to rename it.

QR images and Project Memorial records

The QR-code image stored on a Project Memorial record is separate from the landing-page URL itself. Replacing or editing a QR image does not automatically change the destination page, and changing a page URL does not update QR codes already installed on memorial panels.

Before and after any change

Before changing a QR landing page, confirm which physical memorial uses it. After a change, open the exact published URL on a phone and, where practical, scan the QR code itself. Confirm that the page loads over HTTPS, that translation or supporting links still work, and that the visitor can reach the relevant Project Memorial information.
