Broken Link Checker – Webmaster Reference

Broken Link Checker is the routine link-checking tool for the 15th Battalion website. Its current coverage is defined on Settings → Link Checker → Look For Links In. That settings page is the authoritative record; do not maintain a duplicate list of monitored post types or fields in this article.

When settings must be reviewed

n

Whenever a new public post type, link-bearing ACF or custom field, navigation source, Elementor template source, or other visitor-facing content source is introduced, review Settings → Link Checker → Look For Links In and update the Broken Link Checker settings as required.

n

After changing those settings, click Save Changes so Broken Link Checker rebuilds its source inventory. Running the Broken Link Checker cron by itself only rechecks links already known to the plugin; it does not discover newly enabled content sources.

n

False positives and exclusions

n

Some external sites block or rate-limit automated link checking even though the link works normally in a browser. Verify such links manually before marking them as a Broken Link Checker false positive. Any deliberate exclusions are maintained in the Broken Link Checker settings and should be reviewed there rather than duplicated in this article.

n

Routine webmaster action

n

Review reported broken links, correct obsolete URLs where a reliable replacement is known, and use false-positive or exclusion handling only after confirming the destination works normally. Recheck the Broken Link Checker settings whenever the structure of the website changes.
